Kamania is an Intersectional Feminist who likes to acknowledge from a strengths-based lens. Values are very important in how Kamania lives her life, and believes when people know and have a clear sense of their own values, it can be a great compass for how they choose to live their life.
Kamania is studying sociology with only a few subjects left, and has a special interest in policy on gender, disability and race relations and interactions. Kamania has worked in advocacy for over ten years, first in youth mental health, then as a support person to new young asylum seeker arrivals. Kamania also has experience working on various research and health advisory councils – working with both community members/consumers and policymakers, which Kamania loved and met some incredible people! Kamania’s lived experience with neurodivergence and chronic illness/disabilities has given her firsthand knowledge on tricks of the trade and communication skills when dealing with different systems e.g. having an "About Me" document to send to new NDIS providers etc.
Kamania enjoys helping people explore options to improve their lives - not from the perspective that they're 'doing life wrong' more so that no one knows everything, and just as they'll have knowledge and life tips to share with others, so too do others have for them. Supporting people to become more self reflective and curious about their interests and capabilities. Nudging people to cultivate skills around self analysis and helping them realise how valuable their knowledge and lived experience is. Kamania really likes encouraging people to share their wisdom but also just to get them to acknowledge their awesomeness and how far they've come—to know their identity outside of the identities the world has forced on them. To do this, Kamania started doing some writing as a way to try to make intersectional feminism more accessible on a practical level for day to day life.
