Service Delivery Types

BETTAbility Disability Support Services provides low to medium support care in a person’s home or out in community, with the goal of empowering and encouraging a Participant to live their best life possible. 


We provide care and support that may include (but is not limited to):


Capacity-building / Skill-Development 

Aimed to support a person to develop and learn a range of skills based on their likes / needs / ability that will further enhance their wellbeing and the lives of those they might contribute to or care for themselves. Things such as; cooking, budgeting help, household tasks completion, parenting, public transport, pro-social community engagement. 


Group-based Workshops / Activities 

Support the Participant to attend planned group events such as; meditation sessions, cooking workshops, self-defence courses, learning a language, coffee and beverage preparation, fitness coaching sessions (including game-playing), art and craft workshops and gardening (to name a few!).


Daily Personal Care 

Assisting the Participant to attend to their daily personal care and hygiene needs in a way that honours their abilities and propels them forward into new ways of seeing and doing things to assist in the maintenance of their independence, dignity and being the expert of their own life. 


Transport Support 

Providing transport to access services outside of their home, this may include support to attend Allied Health appointments or activities that work towards the achievement of the Participant’s goals. 


Social and Community Participation 

Support the Participant to be an active contributor to their community, find and explore new passions and activities and to meet new people. 


Assessments 

Support with the completion of Positive Behaviour Support Plans, parental capacity assessments, and household functionality assessments that identifies barriers and potential solutions.

With a background in foster and kinship care assessing, parental capacity assessments would come quite naturally to the team. 

Meet some of our workshop creators

Jo Hudson

Jo joins the team with extensive experience in Child Protection and Disabilities and has an overall zest for life. Jo will be running our creative classes, as she has a passion for self-expression and seeing Participants thrive and shine in a fun environnment. Jo has a love for gardening, dogs, making jokes and ensuring that those around her are having a good time and getting the most out of their experiences. 

Jo is a trained meditation teacher, and would love an opportunity to pass on her wisdom and experiences to others.
